I hope you all had a lovely Christmas yesterday. I know I did. The hubby and I spent time with family and ate, ate, ate!
Now that Christmas is over, I wanted to share why I choose to name my blog and my TpT Store “Primary Paradise”. First, I have always taught First Grade, even when I student taught, so my heart definitely lies with the primary grades. I would love to try teaching K or 2nd as well because I just LOVE kids in that age group.
When I was trying to think of a name, I knew that I wanted something with the word “primary”, but I was stuck with what else. I was actually driving home from grocery shopping and listing different possibilities out loud (because normal people talk to themselves, right? ;)) and nothing sounded right. I’ve always been a fan of alliteration (which must have to do with my older sister who is a high school English teacher), and all of the sudden I blurted out to myself (and my bags of groceries) “Primary Paradise!” and it was perfect for SO many reasons.
1. I LOVE tropical places. My dad (a high school computer teacher) is an avid scuba diver, and would always save up so we could go to the Bahamas every few years when we were kids. My hubby and I have been to Mexico twice and are hoping to make it to Hawaii this summer.
2. I truly believe that I was born to teach, so being in the classroom feels like paradise (most days, at least).
3. AND Finally, my goal is to make the lives of other awesome teachers just a little bit easier, and the slogan “Making Teaching a Breeze” just fit right in with “Primary Paradise”.
So, I hope that this little blog can bring some “paradise” to all of you amazing, hardworking teachers out there by offering some new ideas, resources, and (I’m sure) a few laughs.
Until next time,
Martha from Primary Paradise
