Big Changes in Paradise

Okay, let me start off by saying that I don’t believe in astrology or horoscopes or any of that. However, as an October baby, I fit many of the Libra stereotypes: mainly: I like balance and I hate don’t like change. I know it’s a control thing, which is why I’ve been working very hard to trust in God in all situations because, ultimately, He is in control and I am not.

Even good change is always hard for me, and I always struggle with wondering if I’m making the right choices. You know what they say, “When you choose something, you are also not choosing something else”. I always have those “what if” questions.

The reason I’m telling you this is because I am going through a big change. I have been teaching First Grade at the same school for 3 years. I love First Grade and I love my kids, but it was time for a change. So, on Thursday, I had to say goodbye to my class. It was definitely tough, but they each loved the hand written Valentine’s letters I made for them, and I know they will be okay without me.

On Friday the kids had off so I went in to pack up my classroom. I’ve poured my heart into my room, so it was very weird to see it without all of my personal touches when I left. This is what my living room now looks like. (So sorry it’s blurry)

And this is what part of my attic looks like. There’s even more on the other side.

On Tuesday, I will be starting a position in a new school district doing RTI, working for the VP, and kind of being a wearer of many hats. The plan is to get back into a regular classroom position next year. I’m excited for the change for a lot of personal reasons, but I am definitely going to miss having my own classroom. However, sometimes we need to make changes. (That’s what I keep telling the Libra part of me ;))

Don’t worry. I’m still going to be blogging lots of cool classroom ideas, and in fact, my new position will give me a lot of new and different experiences. I just wanted to share with you exactly where my little Paradise is headed.

Hope you have a lovely weekend!
