Back to School Blog Hop for Grades 3-5

Hello! I am so excited to be particpating in a back-to-school hop that is JUST for all of the lovely upper elementary teachers!

If you have been hopping along, you might be thinking you’re in the wrong place based on my blog name… well, I was a primary teacher (first grade to be exact) for the last 3 years, but am making a leap to fourth grade this year! I’m excited for this new adventure, and I have been working hard all summer to turn my first grade brain into a fourth grade brain!

If you’re new to upper grades, like myself, my tip for you would be to stay organized, talk to more experiences upper grade teachers, blog stalk, and focus on one thing at a time. I can tell you one MAJOR aspect of the new common core standards across the board is teaching our students to prove their answers. That’s why I’m sharing a freebie with you that makes your kiddos do just that!

Common Core Prove It Pack

This pack of 5 response forms ask your students to find proof for their ideas and answers, and then asks them to show where in the text they found it.

Thank you so much for your awesome freebie and ideas. I put my heart and soul into teaching to prove your answers and give a “deeper” response last year. These organizers are an awesome addition to my Reading binder 🙂 Thanks!

You will LOVE the fourth grade. I started there and wish I was still teaching it. The kids are a lot of fun and the curriculum is interesting too! I think if you follow the advice you gave above yourself, you will be awesome! Good luck! Thanks for sharing your freebie at Manic Monday.
