My Top 5 Favorite Primary Grade Youtube Videos

My Top 5 Favorite Primary Grade Youtube Videos

I love youtube. It is SUCH a wonderful educational tool. I don’t know about you, but my students love when I can find fun and silly songs to go along with the different topics we’re learning about.

I, of course, love my write my own songs and raps, but I have no idea how to make cute videos.

That is where youtube comes in.

Here is a list of my Top 5 favorite youtube videos for teaching various primary grade topics.

5. Schoolhouse Rock Rufus Xavier Sarsaparilla (Pronouns)

I love, love, love this video, and my kiddos always do too. I think it’s such a fun way to explain why pronouns are helpful, and everybody loves Schoolhouse Rock, right?

4. place value math song: ones, tens, hundreds

Ahhhh, the joys of teaching place value. I absolutely love this video, and my students always do as well. It’s a great was to reinforce each place, and my students always love that silly duck! 😉

3. Digraphs

When I ask my students to tell me what a digraph is they always say “Two letters, one sound, that’s a digraph man!” Hee Hee  It’s so cute!

2. Vowel Bat (kids song by Shari Sloane)

Before you listen to this one, be warned: it will get stuck in your head and you will probably annoy your spouse when you sing it all the time. (Sorry, honey!) I LOVE this video. It is so great for reinforcing short vowel sounds, and the kids can’t help but sing along. In my class this year, they liked to flap their arms like bats to the beat.

1. When You Subtract With a Pirate (math song for kids)

I have to tell you, first and second were very close for me, but this video is my favorite youtube video for primary students. Well, right now anyway. 😉 I love how it has a fun song that explains what subtraction is and what a difference is and then it goes into math stories. I always use this to introduce subtraction word problems, but my students ask for me to play it all the time.

That’s it! Those are my top 5 favorite youtube videos for primary students… at least for now. 😉
