Morning work is so important to getting your students engaged first thing in the morning! I am very excited to bring you my 2nd grade welcome work (morning work) packet because it has been very successful in my own classroom with my second graders! This pack contains 40 full weeks (ten months) of morning work.
Monday-Thursday, students will complete half a page, and then will complete a full page on Friday. If you copy back-to-back, it’s only 2 pages per week!
Here is how the welcome work works!
On the first four days, students will complete a half page box that is consistent in format so they will grow to be very independent. Each half page has three parts: a sentence to fix, a word skill to practice, and a math skill to practice. There is a large emphasis on word problems since it is such an important common core skill.
On Friday, students will work on a full page that requires more open-ended, critical thinking responses. Students will read a fiction or non-fiction text and answer questions. They will then be given a number and be asked to use that number to create a word problem.
This year long bundle covers both language arts and math skills on a daily basis!
