CVCe words are the first long vowel words kindergarten and first grade students learn. These printable word lists are the perfect tool to help students focus on a specific group of words in a word family.
This resource includes 40 long vowel word families that are either CVCe or CCVCe words. Print, cut, and go. These lists are designed to be distraction free for students and ready to go for teachers. These lists are not editable. Word families included:
long a
ake, ale, ate, ape, ame, ane, ase, ave, ade, aze, age ,ace
long e
none- there are very few long e CVCe words
long i
ine, ite, ide, ike, ife, ime, ipe, ise, ive, ile, ice, ize
long o
ote, obe, ode, ome, one, ope, ose, ove, oke, ole
long u
ute, ule, une, ube, use, ude, misc cvce u words
Each word family includes all known and appropriate CVCe. At the bottom of the lists, under the line, I have also included some “challenge words” in the word family that include blends and digraphs. You can choose to include these or just cut them off for students who are not ready for them.
There are two versions included:
Version 1 includes 3 different word families per page.
Version 2 includes the same word family 3 times on a page.
