Easy and Kid Friendly Recycled Jar Lid Christmas Ornament

Easy and Kid Friendly Recycled Jar Lid Christmas Ornament

If you’re looking for an easy, zero waste, kid friendly, and did I say EASY Christmas ornament craft, look no further! This jar lid ornament is simple to create. It will look great on your tree, and is a handmade ornament you’ll cherish for years. Plus, you can create it using things you likely already have!

First, you’ll need to gather your supplies. You’ll need:

  • a clean jar lid
  • black construction paper cut into a circle
  • a white crayon
  • ribbon or string
  • a hot glue gun or tape
  • a picture of your child printed and cut out

First, use the white crayon to draw a winter scene on your black paper.

Then, glue your cut out picture on the paper. It is especially fun to take a picture of them jumping in winter clothes.

Next, glue your black circle into the jar lid. Wait a bit for it to dry before completing the last step.

Once the glue is dry, flip the jar lid over and hot glue or tape a ribbon or string to the back. We were opting for zero purchases or waste, so we used some string we already had. It can be lovely to add the year and child’s name on the back with a sharpie.

And that’s it. You’re done! You now have a beautiful, simple keepsake that was basically free! This makes a fantastic class project. You could change it up by using colorful paper and drawing a design to make it look like a classic “ornament”. Play around and have fun!
